I’ve came to this hospital from Giles Hospital in Peterstown, WV due to chest pain, and hard to breathe. They’ve come to the conclusion I needed my gallbladder taken out, I’ve never had any surgery in my life; this hospital has been the very best I’ve been in. I’ve met the countless nurses, nurses assistance, house keeping; advocacy lady, and even the director of the hospital, asking how I was being treated by staff! They’ve been amazing! My neuro wants me to get in touch with his fiend who handles vertebrae, their in Morgantown. Four hours away from my house, that’s 8 hours to and from home. I’d rather come here an get my spine operated on! Close-ish to being at my home, and very friendly staff!

Hospitals are not hotels; medical personnel are not trained in customer service. After my recent second prolonged stay at Memorial Hospital, I can attest to those two facts. With changes in the art and science of medicine, there is much for all staff
members to learn and administer. Thank goodness mistakes and failure to fulfill requests are not made more often. On the plus, when I was able to formulate my questions clearly and kindly I was able to receive satisfactory answers. An episode when I asked to speak with the “head nurse,” the nurse in charge for my area came in to listen to me and a short time later left with me understanding what was happening. On the other hand, the dietary department was harder to deal with. I got accustomed to being served very little of what my stomach would tolerate. And then they are, unfortunately, those who do not belong in nursing. They deserve a separate letter to administration and not a rant on a public forum. All said and done , Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital is one of the best things we have going in the Valley.

If I could give zero review, I would! Do not bring your child to this facility! My son was referred to this hospital by his PCP in Marion, VA back in 2015 for a surgery he had in December 2015. Prior to the surgery we had screening, at which time the hospital took our insurance information. My son had Medicaid and Tricare. A year later after the surgery, we moved to Dallas TX where we've been ever since. Now, for the past 3 years I've been getting threat letters saying I have a judgment against me. Memorial hospital recovery billing department (Carilion Clinic) has been writing me letters saying that in 2017 they were awarded a judgment against me for $8360!! Here's my question. Why didn't you guys reach out to the referral doctor for any further assistance with billing if you couldn't get in touch with me? My kids have had Medicaid since I was pregnant! They've had ear tube surgery. My daughter was hospitalized for 4 days for a seizure. We've had all types of medical needs, I've never received a medical bill! Why would I have thought this surgery was any different! How dare you scamming hospital go and get a judgment against for something I wasn't even aware of!!? We moved to TX within a year after his surgery! Your recovery department is super aggressive! Whenever I called trying to understand what exactly happened 2 years ago, you all accused me of running from my responsibilities claiming that I owe this money!! This is ridiculous and unacceptable!! Fix this Carilion Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA!!!!!!!!

The staff at this facility is amazing. My wife and I were brought in after an airplane crash. Even with a lot going in in the ER they updated me on my wife condition, which was severe, frequently. They made the effort and allowed us to see each other on two occasions. We felt extremely blessed to have been in proximity to such a first rate facility.

I wish I could give CRMH zero stars. I was admitted to RMH on October 10th because of vehicle. They claimed that I had End Stage Renal Disease or kidney failure. Something of that ilk. Now what caused me to go to the hospital is because I have seizure. Well, that's the first seizure I've ever had. So I think someone is lying there. But hey, that's what I believe. My problems with RMH is a wide range. I was treated like a lab rat. Dialysis, which I hate doing and I'm almost fainted yesterday which would be 10-22. It would make sense to get the kidney transplant over right now. Ok, that's what I believe and that's my opinion. Also I got a dirty look from a nurse when I flat out refused a urethra or Foley catheter. I mean, it's bad enough that I had to deal with a neck catheter and then a chest catheter. I was told that I would be asleep when they took the neck catheter out. Not... I was awake and I felt the pain. Y'all don't understand. I'm Autistic. I have anxiety. Which is part of the reason (along with excessive smokeless tobacco use) why I have high blood pressure. I just got the dirty look but the no Foley/urethra catheter was respected thankfully. So there's that. Then there the nurses who wake you up every chance they get to give you medications and do vitals. That was annoying. Then if the urethra/Foley catheter installment idea wasn't an invasive of my privacy, they put a TV monitor in room 937 and I was watched. So one night after I woke up on my own accord, I asked the nurse if I could to go to the bathroom. Then I start to get up and someone "Don't get up" using the TV monitor. Now I see why there's a lot of bad reviews and a lot of "oh dang SHTF happening there. Well, when you tell me to "don't get up" after I told a nurse that I needed to go to the bathroom, that's going to make me rebel even more. Trust me, when I want to rebel, I will rebel on anyone. If you took me rebelling against you personally. That's a YOU problem, not my problem. If I gotta go to the bathroom, I'm going to the bathroom. Simple as that. Sorry not sorry.

My DIL is 8 months pregnant she was sent here for gallbladder surgery was told she would have surgery Sunday it’s Tuesday no surgery no communication with surgeon she has barely had anything to eat or drink. Was told yesterday surgery would be noon today it’s 5:41pm still no surgery or explanation as to why the surgery can’t get done. Nurses on OB floor have been great but there is a BIG lack of communication. Update! 9:38pm still no surgery was told the surgeon was coming to speak with us haven’t seen anyone. 35weeks pregnant no food or water all day and still no surgery.

We spent the majority of our time there in the emergency room, and everyone was wonderful. All of the ER nurses and other staff were absolutely amazing and so attentive to my dad. I’m so thankful for our experience and the exceptional staff that cared for my dad, as hospitals can be a very stressful and surreal place. They made sure we were all comfortable and satisfied with the level of care we were given.

This is the most incompetent place ever.The most insubordinate pieces of work ever. The best doctors anywhere,,,but good luck getting to see them. EMPLOYEES just walk around like their doing something,,,then they start dodging you.They won't give you your medicine till hell freezes over,,,maybe not even then. Called 911 from the emergency room 6 times just to try to get help. If your dieing maybe,,,,,,,,or maybe not. Pathetic is the name of their game,,,,apologetic sympathy with the same Ole roll is the rest of it. Good luck. It's the saddest experience you'll ever find.
