My recent experience at Vanderbilt was very much less than positive. My best advice is to proceed with caution if you're referred to Dr. Lind. I had been seen at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore and was referred to Vanderbilt and scheduled with Dr. Lind as it was much closer to home. I read a few positive reviews about Dr. Lind before my appointments so I was very optimistic going into my first office visit. While I will say that Dr. Lind seems to be an attentive listener and he asked pertinent questions, he also seemed to be very, very set in his outdated ways and views and it seemed to myself and my family (who are all always involved in my medical care) that he has a standard set of ideas that he believes about most people who walk through his door. If you fall into one of those categories, great! It's likely that you'll receive the proper treatment that you need. However, if you don't, from my personal experience I can tell you that Dr. Lind was not likely or willing to consider any diagnosis or treatment options outside of his narrow window of views in the GI world, even after a follow up phone conversation with my whole family, in which we all expressed our growing concerns for my health. I walked in to Vanderbilt with a diagnosis from Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore that Dr. Lind was unwilling to believe or recognize as accurate despite the fact that all test results clearly backed up the accuracy of the diagnosis from Hopkins. He also seems to rely heavily on the results of past research studies (most of which were completed prior to the year 2000) to define all of his patients, which hardly seems fair. While research studies might be a helpful start, they certainly should never become a gold standard by any means nor should they be used as an "across the board" way to diagnose every patient, all of whom are different and many of whom are really struggling. I am saddened to write this review because I believe that Dr. Lind does actually have good intentions and want the best for all of his patients, but it's tough to feel like you're receiving the best medical care from a doctor with very out of date research to back up his knowledge and very narrow viewpoints which he is not ever willing to look outside of. My experience is just one of many, but again, I encourage you to proceed with caution if you're referred to this doctor.
