Dr. Levine did my surgery (L4-L5 fusion). I am 71 years and was concerned about my age and my osteoporosis.

I interviewed 4 neuro surgeons and he was my final choice as he was patient with all my questions. Provided me clarity and created confidence. He was clear with any risks involved and had a great sense of confidence in the material he was presenting. His bed side manner was refined.

My surgery has been a success. I have recovered well. Tests shown Dr. Levine’s approach has worked for my condition.

I highly recommend Dr. Levine for anyone looking for a good neurosurgeon.

Thank you Dr. Levine- I can walk straight!!

Gracias y bendecido siempre Dr Z LEVINE.

Dr. Levine attended to my son on December 30th at Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center. He helped me understand the scope of my son's medical issue in a direct but comprehensible language. As a lay person, there is inevitably an article of faith we place in someone like a neurologist, but I felt intuitively that he cared and I trusted his judgment.

My wife and I, not to mention our son, Nathaniel appreciate his knowledge, skill and bed side manner and we humbly offer our gratitude.

May 29th, 2019 I had laser brain surgery to treat my seizures and their impact to my life and to prevent future impact of them. After what, I'll never know, was sufficient testing of the location of my seizures I had a laser ablation of the hippocampus by Dr Levine. Doctors I have seen since, I now live in FL, question the location and the size of the laser hole. I just truly hope that my surgery and results are in Dr Levine mind when he thinks of future surgeries. My prior life was taken with the surgery and my seizures still exist.

I knew the seizures may not be eliminated. However, the impact to the rest of my life, long term, was never something that I thought would happen. Surgery decision would have been altered if I was ever aware that I might be where I am today.

I was strong single woman who took care of herself and helped supported my daughter and grandson. Making sure my grandson had things he deserved. I loved my job, I had worked hard and worked myself up to a manager making over 100k., My life was my job and my family. I had so many plans for myself as my daughter became more self dependent. Self-improvement, travel, volunteering, more happiness. These will never happen.

Effects after surgery - lost of right eye sight, balance issues, depression, anxiety and MCI - mild cognitive impairment (which doesn't feel mild most days).

It has taken 5 years to get to a place where I can write this although I have been angry for years. My life now, almost 5 years later:

* I can no longer work and make sufficient money. I no longer have the pride in myself for being a strong, financially stable woman. I now live on Disablity payments.
* I now live in the garage of my daughter's rental. - garage.
* My balance has me careful where ever I walk. I have fallen about ever 3 to 6 months, Thankfully they have only caused sprained ankles, severely bruised knees and hips so far.
* Seizures continue.
* Biggest impact is MCI. I can not find words in conversations frequently. Often I can not remember something that happened or the detail of what I said. When someone talks to me for more than a few minutes I lose track or my brain shuts down and I can't understand what is being said. I need to embarrassing ask to repeat more briefly. 'Attention' MCI issue.

The accurate location of needed removal needs to be clearly outlined. Potential impacts, in my opinion, were not clear enough and loss of all I have need to be told to patients thinking of laser brain surgery. They need to know of the possible life impacting effects this surgery can make!

I came to Dr Levine for a 2nd opinion ( or 4th). I found him through a trusted network of friends. He provided very honest and objective feedback based on facts and his rich knowledge and skills. His honesty is so obvious. Not like the other three Orthopaedic surgeons I saw prior, who tried to rush to surgery decision without considering the symptoms and the benefit of no surgical methods and time. Surgeons like Dr Levine are too precious!

We came to Dr. Levine for a second opinion, even though he was 70 miles from our home (total disc arthroplasty, C3/4, including discectomy with end plate preparation). For the second opinion, my wife a M.D. tapped her network of trusted friends in the D.C. area. The symptoms were acute and implied potentially both disc compression and carpal tunnel in my right / dominant arm, preventing me working. Dr. Levine conducted a thorough hands on clinical examination, as well as assessed the Neurology and MRI inputs. He took care in explaining the condition, procedure and likely outcomes.

I'm writing this review 18 months post surgery. Immediately no more pain or tingling discomfort, plus he negated what felt like carpal tunnel. I use and abuse my neck like a young man (I'm 54). I moved house last year, multi-week heavy and awkward lifting. I sleep anyway I like, on my stomach (though probably shouldn't!).

With this outcome, over the time passed, I highly recommend Dr. Levine and can't thank him enough.

In 2008 I consulted Dr Levine having spinal stenosis. Dr. Levine operated on me for Spinal Stenosis with Lumbar fusion on my back. Dr. Levine gave me my life back. He is an amazing doctor. When I went for my Post Op X-rays the technician asked who did my surgery because it was TEXT BOOK work...Perfect!!! She showed me the screw in my back and they were perfectly done. She said most of the back surgeries that she sees shows screws in all different directions, etc. She said no wonder people have pain even after surgery because of the terrible job other doctors perform. Dr. Levine work is PERFECT!!!!! I recommend him 100%. I would go back to him in a heart beat. I would never go to anyone else.. If it can be fixed he will do an amazing job. If he refuses to do your surgery its for a good reason, I would take his advise any day. He is brilliant...no question!!

Dr Levine has been the 'go to' neurosurgeon for deep brain stimulation in the DC area for more than 2 decades. He is a highly innovative functional neurosurgeon with superb attention to detail who has always been on the cutting edge of the field. He his now using incisionless focused ultrasonic waves to treat tremor and i have observed him operate and his results are fabulous!
